Construction projects usually have complex supply chains. Payment for materials generally cascades down the supply chain from the developer to the supplier, via the main contractor and subcontractor. Unfortunately it is not uncommon for an intermediate party in the supply chain to become insolvent. In those circumstances, the money meant for an end supplier does not reach its destination.
